Background
Unpredictable rainfall, frequent periods of drought and over exploitation of forest resources has lead to erosion, soil degradation and desertification.
Project Objectives
Create village forest reserves (3-5 ha in size) and assist communities develop sustainable income generating activities.
Project Activities
Promote regeneration of village forests and provide training in sustainable forest management and agroforestry.
Funding Required
£6000 per village forest reserve. New Tree are aiming to create 380 such village reserves.
